Stem, Certified Master Teaching Professional, US Golf Teachers Federation Jason Rauth, Certified Instructor, San Diego Golf Academy About the Instructors GEORGE STEMGeorge Stem became a Certified Golf Instructor in 2000 and achieved Master Teaching Professional status in 2001. Working in the Golf world since 2000 having served at Bear Creek and Glade Valley Golf Clubs. Have been assisting with and managing Junior Golf Camps, Frederick Community College (FCC) Senior Golf Classes, and personal one-on-one golf instruction for the last 7 years. Teaching Approach / Philosophy Golf begins with the basics and fundamentals. Everyone has different golf knowledge, skills, and abilities. Additionally, we are all different in our physical attributes, athleticism, and general health and well-being. Therefore, Teaching golf involves identifying and understanding where the Golf Student is “now” and “what” aspects of the student’s golf game need attention the most. Instructors should think in terms of “How can I help you, the student, the most??” Establishing the “basics and fundamentals” is first, before moving on to more detailed and in-depth skills, techniques, and different golf shots. Also critical to the student’s golf game is time spent working on the MENTAL aspect of the Golf Game. This includes such items as “scoring strategies”, “pre-shot routine”, and “course management” decisions made while actually playing the game. Helping to identify and address these multiple and diverse needs is what makes teaching and learning the game of golf so challenging, and yet so interesting and rewarding. Seeing a student “really connect” with a “great shot” is good for both the student and the instructor. In the final analysis, improved golf scores are as much about “making good decisions” as it is about “making good golf shots”!!! Stem Golf focuses the student on both. 2008 Lesson Options, Rates and Fees
